Northcote Town Centre was buzzing recently as the brand-new Northcote Market made its debut — and it’s just the start of a summer packed with free fun!
The Auckland Urban Development Office (part of Auckland Council) is transforming Northcote in stages, and they’re working to make sure the town centre stays lively and welcoming while the changes roll out.
To keep things lively and local, there’s a new Northcote Market, as well as lots of summer fun for everyone.
The launch was a hit with buzzing vibes, tasty eats, unique stalls, live entertainment, and a great community feel!
There’s more to come every Saturday until Christmas. And, if locals love it, it’ll be back in 2026 so bring your whānau and check it out!

Big things are happening in the town centre. It’s being modernised in stages, while keeping its unique multi-cultural vibe. Over the next two years, they’ll be:
Next up after this – the staged transformation of the shopping area. They’ll be new shops, offices, apartments, a town square, and a bigger supermarket, all delivered over the next decade.
The town centre will stay open throughout, with the market and activities helping to keep Northcote vibrant and connected.
The Auckland Urban Development Office leads Auckland Council’s urban transformation projects – working with mana whenua, developers, and the community to create vibrant, future-ready neighbourhoods, like Northcote.
