Opening times are changing for many Auckland Council services over the summer holidays.

24-hour service

Visit the Auckland Council website for information on all council services and facilities. If you can’t find the answer to your questions, our 24-hour call centre is open throughout the holiday period. Just call 09 301 0101.

Service centres

All Auckland Council service centres close at noon on 22 December and reopen Wednesday 6 January.

Rubbish and recycling

Auckland Council will continue to collect your rubbish and recycling over the summer break, but there are some changes to collection days in December and January.

Normal collections will resume on Monday 11 January 2021.

Pools and leisure centres

Visit Auckland Leisure or call 09 301 0101 for opening hours and information about holiday programmes.

Auckland Council libraries

Libraries (including Central City Library and Te Manawa) will operate to this adjusted schedule between Christmas Day and 5 January:

• Friday 25 December – Monday 28 December: closed
• Tuesday 29 December – Thursday 31 January: open and operating normal hours for those days
• Friday 1 January – Monday 4 January: closed
• Tuesday 5 January: all libraries are open and resume their normal days and hours.

The only exception will be Botany Library who have a separate contractual agreement with Botany Town Centre, meaning they will close on Christmas Day only.

Local board offices are closed over the Christmas period and will reopen in January or February. See the list below for details:

Booking your holiday at one of our regional parks

Auckland Council service centres are closed, so we are only taking bookings via our online booking system where you can search, book and pay. Bookings cannot be taken over the phone, and payments are not accepted at our regional parks.
