About CNSST Foundation

CNSST Foundation is a charitable trust that provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services to Asian new settlers and the broader community. Our Education Institute (EI) delivers English language training, and vocational programmes that help migrants settle into New Zealand communities and employment.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Tutor to deliver our workplace English programme to employees who want to strengthen their workplace English, reading, writing, communication, and numeracy skills – enabling them to be more successful and confident in their roles.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can help us reach new migrant communities – specifically Korean and Sri Lankan (Sinhala-speaking) workers.

About the Role

You will deliver a flexible, practical programme that helps employees improve their workplace English, reading, writing, communication, and numeracy skills – enabling them to be more successful and confident in their roles.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your expertise and skills to help migrants who need to upskill in the workplace and increase their future chances of success in professional development.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver workplace English online or on-site at workplaces or at our training hub

• Adapt teaching materials to suit specific industries (e.g., hospitality, cleaning, manufacturing, aged care)

• Use real workplace documents (forms, emails, safety signs, menus) to make learning relevant

• Support learners with low literacy and low numeracy skills using bilingual strategies

• Assess learner progress (formative and summative)

• Provide feedback to learners and employers

• Provide basic administration support including attendance tracking, learner records, and progress reporting

• Work with the Acting Manager to promote and refine programme delivery and develop industry-specific resources

What We Are Looking For

• Passion for helping adult learners succeed in the workplace

• Ability to deliver engaging, practical, and learner-centred sessions

• Comfortable with online delivery (Zoom) and on-site workplace delivery

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• A commitment to cultural sensitivity and inclusivity

• Fluency in English and Korean OR English and Sinhala (written and spoken)

• Full NZ driver licence (clean)

• Qualification in English language teaching (eg. TESOL, CELTA )

• Experience teaching English to adults (eg. ESOL,)

• Appropriate work permit (eg. NZ resident/citizen, work visa)

• Experience in foundation education (desirable but not essential)

• Understanding of the NZ workplace context (health & safety, employment agreements, workplace culture)

• Experience working with Korean or Sri Lankan migrant communities (preferred)

• Additional teaching qualification (e.g. NZ Certificates in teaching adult) is an advantage
