Dry weather water provision - what you need to know
Prolonged dry weather in the Auckland region is putting pressure on water supplies for rural residents.
Tips for saving water
Watercare notes that Auckland’s metropolitan water supply situation is stable, with no restrictions in place. However, it is encouraging people to use water wisely, especially on hot days when they tend to use more than normal.

Community water collection sites
During Level 4 Lockdown all water supply sites remain open in our rural areas as these are essential services to our communities.
Observe social distancing, wash your hands as soon as possible and stay in your bubble.
Water continues to be available to be collected for domestic use at the sites listed below.
- People can take up to 30L of water per person in their household per day, in handheld containers
- Some sites have taps on buildings
- Others have taps running from stand-alone (static) tanks - these may be temporary tanks or existing tanks already on site
- Please turn taps off after use
- Report any issues to Auckland Council on 09 301 0101 (referencing the location)
