New central recycling centre planned

A site in the Albert-Eden Local Board area has been chosen for a new resource recovery facility.

The Albert-Eden, Waitematā and Puketāpapa local boards funded a scoping study to look at opportunities for establishing a facility in the central area. The Albert-Eden Local Board agreed to a site on Great North Rd in Western Springs at its 2 December meeting.

Board chair Peter Haynes spoke to Fairfax Media reporter Elesha Edmonds about the plan for the recycling centre.
