A 100km network of walking tracks, Te Ara Hura is the perfect way to explore Waiheke Island and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Te Ara Hura is grouped into four areas, which all offer very different experiences:
Headlands
The headlands surrounding Mātiatia harbour offer million dollar views of the Hauraki Gulf and provide links to Oneroa, the village centre of Waiheke Island, and to vineyards in the Church Bay area.
Beaches ‘n’ Baches
Check out the island’s white sandy beaches or be a local for the day and experience village life – you’ll find art galleries, the library, cinema, cafes and shops, with quiet coves in between.
Forest Heart
Follow Te Ara Hura through beautiful native bush from Whakanewha Regional Park to the forest and bird reserve at Onetangi.
Far End
This is the far end of the track network, a place apart from the rest of the island. Here you’ll get big skies, big views and fresh air therapy.
