Celebrating consistently gaining the Category 1 rating by NZQA

  North Shore Language School (NSLS) is a well-established education provider with a history of excellent educational performance.  This is evidenced by NZQA consistently awarding the highest Category 1 rating during its evaluations of NSLS. 

This excellence is achieved because the teaching staff is dedicated to their students, the educational programmes are designed well, and the programmes are offered within a warm and motivating atmosphere in which students enjoy learning.

NSLS has operated as a private training academy for 13 years and has continuously supported its students to achieve their goals, and helped them to achieve the highest academic results (exceeding nationwide averages).  NSLS is also an IELTS & TKT Cambridge University Pre-Testing Centre.

Teacher trainees studying on the Certificate in TESOL programme gain the skills and confidence to deliver highly-effective English language lessons to non-native speakers.  A variety of teaching techniques are explored, both in theory and through teaching practice. The TESOL programme is also designed to inspire them to pursue teaching as a career. Our graduates get two well-recognized teaching qualifications. One is a New Zealand NZQA qualification and the other is the Teaching Knowledge Test from Cambridge University, England.  These two qualifications enable you to teach English in New Zealand as well as abroad.  This programme is suitable for native speakers of English and non-native speakers of English (5.5 IELTS or above).

Language students studying English at NSLS learn in a communicative and interactive environment which stimulates language development through practice.  The students achieve their language goals to be able to use English socially, function well in their workplace, or to apply to Universities.

As well as excellent educational opportunities, there are extra benefits of studying at NSLS:

• All international students studying at NSLS can get 20 hours’ work rights during their academic term, and full-time work rights during the holiday period.  This is allowed because NSLS is a Category 1 provider.
